My goal-based approach to video
production has enabled me to consistently achieve the results I desire.
What I love about my work is the variety…and
the fact that every day brings new challenges and opportunities to use my creativity to achieve positive results in my work.
After more than 25 years in the video production industry, I’ve learned that business success is less about technical
knowledge and more about personal attributes such as character, integrity, and attention to detail. Others expect high-level
cinematic skills, but skills don’t amount to much if they aren’t coupled with the discipline and concentration
required to meet objectives.
As the founder of Spot Productions, I've applied these guiding principles to my work as
an award-winning producer/director. Whether it's a TV commercial, a training video, a corporate stage show, or an interactive
presentation, I started by working to clearly define the project goals.
Awards are great, but results are better
Although it may seem obvious to set goals, it’s not too common in the video industry. Many talented individuals produce
beautiful work, but there are few who bring the high level of business acumen necessary to help generate business. Sure, awards
are great—and I appreciate earning my fair share—but more importantly, I ask myself: Does the project cause the
viewer to think, feel, and act as you intended?
Video is a very emotional and visible way to impact audiences. That's
the aspect I find so appealing year after year.
